CIMAGO Center Scientific Statement

CIMAGO is a new Center of Investigation in Environment, Genetics and Oncobiology, of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Coimbra, in close association with the University Hospital of Coimbra. This University of Coimbra is the oldest in Portugal, and its Faculty of Medicine is 818 years old.

Their main research interest are related with the participation of environment in carcinogenesis, the genetic and molecular mechanisms involved in several neoplasias, namely hematological, colon, breast, lung and prostate cancer, their relevance to clinical approach as prognostic markers and therapeutic approach.
The Center have several investigators with different knowledge, from basic to clinical sciences (MD; MD,PhD; PhD; Msc…) as an approach to translational medicine. It has several Master and PhD students.

This Center have 4 main research groups, one of them working in hemato-oncology. Each group have several investigators and a head coordinator.
